Údolí Plakánek

Instead of climbing the tower, try following the path through the valley. Plakánek combines water, meadows and sandstone walls into a completely different picture of the Bohemian Paradise.

Podkost and StřehomAllow around 3 h here

Plakánek stretches between the surroundings of Kost and Střehomí, around the Obora pond. Here you get to know the landscape from below: rock walls appear above the road, next to it the forest alternates with more open sections. Vesecký Plakánek is a side valley leading to Vesci u Sobotka. Similar names can be confusing when planning, so be clear in advance which branch you want to go to and where you will return.

A walk where there is no need to rush

You can choose the valley itself as your main objective, not the far end of the route. Notice how the sandstone changes color in the shade and light, and observe the reflections of the path by the water. The Obora pond is a useful reference point for planning the day. For a family trip, it is wise to decide on a turning point before the children get tired of the return journey.

An idea for your day

Allow approximately three hours for a walking stay with breaks. The association with Kost gives the landscape historical context; turning to Vesca again adds timbered architecture. Determine the specific length according to the starting location.

Things to know

Is Plakánek the same as Vesecký Plakánek?

Nope. Vesecký Plakánek is a side valley through which you can head towards Vesci u Sobotka.

Is this a suitable replacement for rock stairs?

The trip has a valley character, but does not guarantee a paved or barrier-free surface. The weather and the specific selected section are decisive.
