Zebín

A prominent hill with a small chapel on top. Zebín offers a different view of Jičínsko than the city tower: you are standing right in the open countryside.

Zebín is a volcanic hill near Jičín, whose silhouette is completed by the chapel of St. Mary Magdalene. At the foot is the church of All Saints with a wooden bell tower. Two different places are easily combined into a single image when viewed from a distance, but when you visit you will recognize their different location. The ascent allows you to observe how the relationship of the hill to the city and the surrounding fields changes with each section.

A small peak deserves its own time

Don't just take the summit as the last point before coming back. If the weather permits, stop and try to find the direction to Jičín and Valdštejn loggia in the countryside. You don't have to name every distant hill; the layout of the city, roads and open space is already interesting. Pay attention to the trail on the way down, as the steeper section can be more challenging going down than going up.

An idea for your day

Leave two hours for the ascent, rest and return according to the chosen departure. The connection with the loggia creates a day with two different views of the same landscape: one from the architecture, the other from the top.

Things to know
