Hrad Valečov
The ruin on the sandstone blocks and the surrounding rock dwelling show two very different forms of life in stone.

Valečov rises above Bosnia near Mnichova Hradiště, on the western side of the Bohemian Paradise. The castle buildings use sandstone bedrock, and rock flats have been preserved in the forecourt and the surrounding area. When you look at both parts from a distance, the difference between a defensive residence and everyday living becomes clear. The rock may have provided protection and space, but don't bring the comfort of today's house into it.
Two scales of the same material
First perceive the entire castle silhouette, then focus on smaller spaces. Try to talk with the children about where the bed would fit, where the light would come from and what would be needed for an ordinary winter day. Take the answers as food for thought, not as a reconstruction of a specific interior. More important than the number of holes visited is to understand the different uses of the site.
An idea for your day
Two clocks can serve as a reserve for the castle and the surrounding area. Add Příhrazské skály or Mužský just as another separately prepared program, because the movements and the terrain can turn a short visit into a long day.
